Just thought I would post some old ish… Enjoy :P
Today the lovely Ms. Mia and I ventured into LES to the aNYthing boutique to check out their new spring line. To make a long story short we were not disappointed! Fresh colored T,s, DOPE hoodies, books and a lavish assortment of hats from 5 panel snaps to fitteds very nicely arraigned in this seemingly small storefront. OH and how can I forget the 2 boxes of $10 items by the register for people trying to stunt on a budget!!!
At $32 a shirt I think I came off with some choice gear for this spring and summer. I will definitely be back for some more stuff soon!!!
Plus dude at the register threw in some stickers… Gotta love free shit!!!
So do yourself a favor and stop by the store (51 Hester St New York, N.Y. 10002)
Today we once again morn the passing of a true Hip Hop legend… I can’t help but remember the day I went and bought the classic “Capital Punishment” album and listened closely as PUN proceeded to lyrically demolished EVERY SINGLE SONG!!! It was a great moment in my life and I couldn’t help but feel proud to be latin. But honestly people BIG PUN wasn’t only the greatest “Latin” Lyricist, in my opinion he was one of the greatest to ever do it! I can truly say that the rap game hasn’t been the same since we lost him in 2000.
If there is anything that his short life on this earth can teach us, it’s to keep pushing, keep grinding even if they don’t except you, because eventually somethings gotta give. He had the courage to be different, break stereotypes and in the process he made his own lane. So few artists nowadays break the mold or choose to take the path less traveled because they fear rejection. It is now up to us, the new generation of Hip Hop. We are PUN’s predecessors, we are his legacy! Let’s uphold that code of honor, Let’s make him proud! Rest In Peace Christopher Rios AKA “Big Punisher”…
I couldn’t only pick 1 so here’s a few of my favorite PUN moments and songs…
Moment of silence…
This is the beat for a new song I’m working on called “New Love”…

Recently I went to go see The Roots last show @ The High Line Ballroom. Needless to say the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, and me being a Roots fan for so long and never seeing them live I could hardly contain myself. Like any headliner The Roots needed an opening act, an artist that could set the tone for what was going to be in my opinion an incredible night. So who did they look to? It was none other then NNEKA! When she first got on stage I said to myself “who’s this?” Then she proceeded to adjust her mic without saying a word. The band was already set up and ready to go… Looking around I could see that I wasn’t the only clueless spectator. I heard people saying “who’s that” and “I wonder what shes gonna do.” All of a sudden the band starts playing and she goes into her first song! Let’s just say that those “clueless spectators” instantly became NNEKA fans.
Here are some videos from that night taken by yours truly…
Born in Nigeria, Nneka relocated some 10,000 miles to Hamburg, Germany, at the age of nineteen to pursue a career in singing along side a degree in Anthropology. Having landed in the German port, the singer hooked up with DJ and Hip-Hop beatmaker DJ Farhot and ever since, their strong musical relationship has been the backbone of Nneka’s success. Her influences reflect her younger days in Nigeria as well as her time in the Western world. The distance she has travels shines through in her voice as does her diverse musical influences. She cites famous compatriot Fela Kuti and legend Bob Marley as well as contemporary rappers Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Mobb Deep and Lauryn Hill as key influences in her pursuit of musical recognition.

*special thanks goes out to MIA for taking me out on the best date ever* <3 U
DJ Dyllemma & DJ Sav One put together over 65 tracks from some of their favorite MCs, who were either on the come-up or established MCs still putting out quality hip-hop in ’09. For the people who feel like there weren’t enough solid releases last year (we obviously disagree), this mix should fill in the gaps for some of the tracks you may have overlooked. If you’ve visited TheUnderGroundComeUp or checked out their previous mixtape, “Future Classics & Past Rarities,” you know the types of artists that they support & that these mixes are meant to sound real live, so expect scratching, cutting & a “live from the basement” feel throughout. Feedback is greatly appreciated & please share this mixtape freely. The download folder contains individual files, a full tracklist, coverart, & contact info. Peace.
